Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s)
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our families a wonderful holiday, to our Christian families a happy and blessed Easter and to our Jewish families a happy Pesach. (Chag Sameach)
TERM 1 REPORTS AND PARENT-TEACHER MEETINGS: You should have collected and be in possession of your child’s report for Term 1. It was a pleasure signing all the Camps Bay Primary term 1 reports as the results were of an exceptionally high standard and the teacher comments were extremely positive, encouraging and favourable. Congratulations to all those pupils who performed well and to the best of their ability this term. ‘Yes we can’ and ‘Proudly Camps Bay Primary’!
Enclosed with the report are the quarterly School Governing Body Newsletter, a Camps Bay Security Information Newsletter as well as the PTA ‘Camp-Out’ Invitation for Grades 3 – 7 only.
The Parent-Teacher meeting/interviews to discuss your child’s report and progress will be at the start of next term on Thursday afternoon 16 April from 13:00 to 18:00. School will close at 13:00 on Thursday 16 April to accommodate these meetings. You should have also received a letter requesting you to select an interview time-slot with your child’s respective teacher. Please complete this and return the reply slip. A further reminder of the Interactive Whiteboard (Smartboard) demonstration which will take place at 18:00 on Thursday 16 April in the hall.
Please note that the Parent-Teacher meetings for Grade 5S and 3V will take place on an alternative date next term as Ms van Hoof and Ms Sobey will both be away at the start of next term. Ms Sobey will be seeing parents on 29 April 2009 and Ms van Hoof will provide the date for her class on her return. I do apologise for this inconvenience.
EASTER-EGG DRIVE:
Thank you to all those families who donated so generously – the response was amazing! I am sure the children at James House, Nazareth House and at St Paul’s Primary will be delighted. Mrs Vivienne Ashcroft has arranged for a group of Camps Bay Primary pupils to personally deliver part of our contribution to the ‘old folks’ at Sea Point Place. I am sure this will bring a smile and ‘brighten up the day’ of our senior citizens in the community.
PTA: ‘CAMP-OUT’ FUNDRAISER
The PTA Moms are organising a Camps Bay Primary ‘Camp-Out’ on the Camps Bay High school fields on Saturday night 18 April 2009. The ‘Camp-Out’ starts at 17:00. Please get your tents and camping gear ready – it promises to be a great evening of fun and games! Further details will be provided by Sophia Mortakis and the PTA. Enclosed please find the ‘Camp-Out invitations.
TERM 2 EXTRA-MURAL PROGRAMME
The term 2 extra-mural programme and registration forms will be issued at the start of next term. Mrs Hamber still needs to finalise the programme and there is also information that has not yet been finalised with respect to fixtures, coaches and access to fields.
LAST WEEK OF TERM 1:
INTER-HOUSE GENERAL KNOWLEDGE QUIZ: The Inter-House General Knowledge Quiz was an exciting event held on Tuesday. The result was: 3rd – Blue, 2nd – Orange and the winning house by one point was Purple House. Well done, Purple!
GRADE 7 CAMP PRESENTATION: The Grade 7s have prepared a power-point / video presentation of their camp to Wortelgat near Stanford which they will be presenting to the school on Wednesday morning from 08:00 – 09:00. The site is a great venue for a ‘survival’ camp and by all accounts the Grade 7s had the most amazing and fun time. One of the highlights was Mrs Visagie going down the ‘zip-line’! Thank you to Mrs Hamber, Mrs Visagie and Ms Attwell who accompanied the Grade 7s on the camp.
SPCA ‘TALK’ AND DVD PRESENTATION: The SPCA will be doing a presentation on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 in the hall.
LAST DAY OF TERM: Friday 3 April
Final assembly will take place at 10:00 and a reminder that school closes at 11:00. Please arrange to collect your child at this time.
MERIT AWARDS: Congratulations to the following pupils, each of whom was presented with a merit award at our assembly last week. We are proud of each one of you and would like to encourage you all to continue doing your best at all times.
