Art Auction Week

----------------------------------------------------------------

2008 MAGAZINE PHOTOSHOOT AT MAIDEN'S COVE
There was great excitement this past Friday, 17 October as all the children assembled to have the photograph for the 2009 magazine taken at Maiden’s Cove. A sincere thank you must go out to all the Parents and Staff who assisted us on the day with lifts and contributed to making the photo a success.

GRADE 7 FAREWELL
A fantastic evening was enjoyed by all on Friday thanks to the incredible efforts of our brilliant Grade 7 Parent Team. The hall looked stunning, the food was delicious, the girls were dressed to the “nines” and boys suave and gentlemanly. The children were on their best behaviour. It was a super affair!

FLYERS / NOTICES
Please keep all notices and flyers that are sent home in a safe place. The school is wasting an enormous amount of paper because of lost/mislaid copies that have to be given out again at the office. Thank you for your co-operation.

BUDGET MEETING
This serves as our second notification of the annual Budget Meeting which will be held at the Camps Bay High School on Thursday, 13th November at 18:15. Please diarise this very important meeting.

THIRD TERM REPORTS
Please sign and return your child’s school report to the class teacher as a matter of urgency. The final report for this year will be issued at the end of this term using the same plastic folder.

SPORT PHOTOGRAPH APPEAL FOR THE MAGAZINE
We would like to appeal to all parents who may have any action shots or pictures of the various sporting teams to please send these to the school for inclusion in this year’s school magazine.

SENIOR GRADE PLAYS
Both Grade 6 and Grade 7 classes have been busy work-shopping and scripting plays for this year’s theatrical experience. The senior grades will be performing the following: Grade 6R “The Search for the Book of Knowledge”, Grade 6V “Proudly South African”, Grade 7H “A Hairy Tale”, Grade 7L “T.V. or not T.V.” Join us for some fun on Thursday 6 November at 7pm. Prices: R15 for Adults and R5 for children. Tickets will be available from Monday 3 November at the Bursar’s office.

ART AUCTION
Accompanying this newsletter is an invitation to the Art Auction and a reply slip. Should you be attending the Art Auction please return the reply slip to school as soon as possible to facilitate catering. The Auction is due to take place next Wednesday 29 October at 7pm in the Bernard F. Segal Memorial Hall this is definitely one of the highlights in Term 4! Each child’s work will be represented, together with group class artwork and displays of artwork by local artists. This always proves to be a very enjoyable evening. Food and refreshments will also be on sale.

RECYCLING
This month the recycling depot raised R259 from collect-a-can! Thank you for your support!

CLASSICAL BALLET AND CLASSICAL GREEK
“We received 100% pass rate as usual for our R.A.D. Ballet examinations although the results were a bit disappointing. Certificates will be handed out at assembly. Congratulations to all who worked so hard.

CAPE TOWN CITY BALLET
“Can you imagine Cape Town without a City Ballet Company! If we do not support the City Ballet Company it will have to close down. Ribbons at a cost R10.00 each will be on sale at school from next week in aid of the Company. Thank you. June Gruneberg.”

TO HONOUR PAST PUPILS
To honour our past pupils and friends of Camps Bay High School who have achieved, often in the National or International arena, or made a difference in their community in a significant way, we display their photographs and resumes on the walls of The High School foyer. A number of these "achievers" have attended all three Camps Bay Schools. We launched the "Achievers and Friends of Camps Bay Wall" last year this time and have now invited them, together with a number of newly identified "achievers" back to visit the school. We invite all parents and staff of the three Camps Bay Schools to join us at this function on Wednesday, 12 November 2008, at 19h00 in The High School hall. The dress is smart casual. Please reply to Vivienne Ashcroft by 31 October 2008 on tel. no. 021 438 1507 or email her on campsbayschools@gmail.com to facilitate catering.

Our new desks have arrived!

----------------------------------------------------------------

PHOTOSHOOT AT MAIDEN'S COVE

On Friday, 17 October the photograph for the 2009 magazine will be taking place at Maiden’s Cove. Below please find the procedure for the morning:
1. All parents are requested to drop their child at Maiden’s Cove parking area (parking area close to La Med).
2. Teachers will be there at 7:30 am to meet all learners. Please do not leave your child if there are no members of the Camps Bay Primary staff present.
3. All learners should report to their class teacher where their name will be ticked off on a class list.
4. If your child is going to be absent, please inform the teacher by Thursday in writing.
5. After the photograph all children will be transported back to school.
The school programme will continue as normal with school ending at 13:00.

NEW DESKS HAVE ARRIVED
There was a lot of excitement in the Grade 3 classrooms this week as they received their new desks and chair backs! A big thank you must go out to Ms Nikolova, mother of Gabriella Tucheva who made all the chair bags for us. As you can see from the picture below the classes look completely revamped!

NITS & LICE STRIKE AGAIN

Regrettably head lice and nits have invaded us again. It is Departmental Policy, as well as School Policy that children who are found to have hair lice and / or nits are required to go home immediately, only returning to school when they are clear. This usually takes about 2-3 days. I know that this is often extremely inconvenient, but as lice / nits is so very easily spread, we have to insist that this be strictly adhered to. Please check your child's head! We are aware that this is a problem not unique to our school – many schools in the Western Cape are struggling. Please help us – we ask that every child’s head be checked TODAY. It is also essential that older or younger siblings who are not at our school be checked regularly. We are determined to gain control of this situation, but can only do so with your support and co-operation.

MERIT AWARDS
Congratulations to the following who were presented with merit awards at assembly last Friday. We are proud of each one of you and would like to encourage you all to continue giving only of your best at all times.
