Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s)
GRADE 6 & 7 PLAYS: The grade 6 and 7 plays on Tuesday and Wednesday night were absolutely amazing! We had a bit of Bollywood, ‘Saturday Night Live’ reality TV show as well as 1920s gangsterism led by ‘Fat Sam’ (Ethan Philander) and ‘Dandy Dan’ (Alexander Dickie) from Bugsy Malone. The grade 7 girls, in beautiful twenties dresses, entertained us as ‘flappers’ with some wonderful dance routines. The grade 6 and 7 pupils are to be commended on a superb evening of entertainment. Both nights played out to full houses. Congratulations and thank you to the grade 6 and 7 class-teachers as well as to Ms Gibbs, Mr Rycroft and particularly Ms Attwell who was responsible for directing and staging the plays. You are all stars!
REPORTS: The teachers have been very busy processing assessments and marks, writing comments and preparing the term 3 reports. The term 3 reports will be available for collection on Tuesday 22 September 2009 from 14h30 to 15h30 in the Bernie Segal Memorial Hall. If you are unable to collect the reports at this time, the reports will be available for collection from reception on Wednesday morning from 08h00 until 11h00.

DUCK-A-THON (SWIM-A-THON): Duck-a-mania continues and the ducks are selling like crazy! Please pop in and look at the amazing ducks that have been decorated which are on display in the cabinet outside reception! We have ‘Duck-Soup’, ‘Heavenly Duck’, ‘World Cup Duck’ and ‘Mama Africa’ Duck as well as ‘Peking Duck’ to identify a few! Corporates and businesses have also bought into Duck-a-mania with ‘Kauai Hawaii’ Duck and ‘Col’Cacchio Pizza King’! Thank you to parents and pupils for your support – we need to keep the momentum going until Duck-a-thon Carnival Day on Saturday 10 October 2009.
STOP PRESS! STOP PRESS!: Design Indaba will be coming to view the pink ducks – all decorated pink ducks need to be in by early next week! Thanks.

RUGBY
I received a wonderful thank you letter from Elle Joannides and Sandra Jackson on soccer (under-11A) and rugby this week. Here follows an extract on the first rugby match played by our team. On Monday 14 September the grade 6s played their first match of the season against Kronendal. We were there, in undisguised support of Camps Bay Primary. We watched as the coach prepped the boys before the game. The whistle blew, and the players ran onto the field, each one taking his place. The initial silence was broken by a superb pass made to Tommy, who blasted his way to the try-line and dived across ‘Bryan Habana-style’. Go Tommy!
Well done to every member of the team. We did lose the match 25 points to 5 but who said ‘winning is everything’!
