Finale

----------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s)

The final exams for 2008 are underway. We wish all our pupils good luck during this time. Please remember that there are no school extra-murals for the remainder of the term, however private extra-murals will continue as agreed with your extra-mural teacher. School will be closing at 13h00 every day until Friday, 5 December when school will be closing at 11h00.

FINALÉ 2008: The Finalé 2008 is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 4 December at 19h30. All Grade 4 - 7 pupils are expected to attend.

TEXT BOOKS FOR 2009: A number of parents were unfortunately unable to attend the text book sale yesterday. Should you still need to order your books you may do so by collecting an order form from the Secretary’s office. This form needs to be completed in full and returned with the necessary cash or cheque (made out in favour of Books 24/7) to the Bursar’s office by 1 December at the latest. Please note the order will not be processed until it has been paid for in full. Once the order is placed Books 24/7 will deliver it directly to the school for you to collect in the new year.

SECOND HAND TEXT BOOKS FOR GRADE 7 2009: The Grade 7’s will be selling their Afrikaans Spud and Myths and Legends books by private arrangement. Should you wish to buy them second hand they will cost approximately R150 for all three books.

SECOND HAND BOOKS: There will be no second hand book sale held at the school this year, due to the fact that the school is introducing new Natural Science, Social Science, Economic and Management Sciences and Mathematics text books. We will continue to use the current Comprehensive English Text books and the Afrikaans Sonder Grense text books for the languages. Parents can purchase the language text books second hand but this will be done on a private sale basis which means you will need to personally approach a learner of the grade your child will be in. You may also sell your child’s language text books at a reasonable price to someone wishing to purchase these.

MERIT AWARDS: Congratulations to the following who were presented with merit awards at the assembly on Friday. We are proud of each one of you and would like to encourage you all to continue giving only of your best at all times.

Exams are starting!

----------------------------------------------------------------

EXAMS STARTING
Our final exams start next Monday 17 November. Parents are notified that school will be closing at 13h00 from Monday 18 November until Thursday 4 December and at 11h00 on 5 December, the final day of the 4th term. We trust that all of you are busy revising and studying and we wish you all good luck! Below are some pointers to help you through this stressful and important period:
1. Prepare an exam/revision timetable and stick to it.
2. Make sure you know exactly what to learn.
3. Aim to understand the material you study not just to memorise it.
4. Take effective study breaks planned and limited.
5. Remember to get enough sleep.
6. Prepare all the resources you will need for the exam e.g. pens, pencils, calculators,
erasers, etc.
7. Remember to eat a well balanced breakfast on the day of the exam so that you are focusing on your exam paper and not on your empty tummy.
8. When you get the exam paper on the day of the exam read through all the questions. If you do not understand any of the instructions please ask the teacher in charge of the exam.
9. Write all your answers clearly and neatly.
10. Once you have completed your paper if you have any spare time read through all of your answers.

Quote: A student who changes the course of their history is probably writing an exam. Anonymous
